“He’s Your Husband Now, Not Your Dad” — Femi Otedola’s Wedding Message to Temi

Billionaire businessman Femi Otedola recently shared heartfelt advice with his daughter, Temi Otedola, and her husband, singer Oluwatosin Ajibade, better known as Mr Eazi, during their wedding reception. The couple had their official ceremony in Iceland in August 2025, after earlier celebrating with two other weddings — one in Monaco on May 9, which coincided with the late birthday of Mr Eazi’s mother, and a traditional Yoruba wedding at the Otedola family home in Dubai in July.

In a video from the Iceland reception that has been widely shared online, Otedola praised the couple’s bond and determination, describing their union as one “made in heaven.” He advised his daughter to put her marriage first and emphasized that her husband is now her leader. According to him, “You found a great man from a good family. He’s your husband, your boss. Don’t call me up as dad anymore when there are issues.”

The billionaire also commended both Temi and Mr Eazi for their entrepreneurial spirit, noting that their drive and ambition set them apart. He said their generation’s hustle is different and has always yielded results, urging them to continue nurturing both their love and their careers.

Otedola further encouraged the couple to handle conflicts privately, without involving outsiders. He advised them to keep challenges within their marriage and trust God to bless their union. Wrapping up his speech, he revealed that he had prepared a meaningful wedding gift for the couple, saying he had dipped into his savings to present them with something special. He urged them to make wise use of the gift as they pursue greatness together.

After the wedding, Temi updated her surname on social media from Otedola to Ajibade, officially adopting her husband’s name. This move has reignited debate in Nigerian feminist circles about whether married women should take on their husband’s surname or keep their maiden name
